Atlantis of the Sands: The Search for the Lost City of Ubar

About the Committee

In the vast expanses of the Arabian Desert, in the magnificent sand dunes and lush oases that lie hidden, there once existed a great civilization, that like all great empires, has vanished into the  sands of time. The Bedouins called it Ubar, some called it Iram. It flourished and traded dates, olives, silver and more. It’s people are said to have been giants, probably around the heights of entire palm trees and they were indeed a mighty people. What happened to them? Why do we know so little about them, especially compared to places like Egypt and the Indus Valley? Who will dare to explore this no man’s land where such an inhospitable climate? Is it worth it? Yes. “We chose to go to the moon not because it is easy, but because it is hard”. It is the year of 2050, with advanced archeological tools, your committee is tasked to explore the Rub Al-Khali (Empty Quarter) desert with whatever means necessary and retrieve many “important objects” from there. Be warned, it is a very strange land.
